|Another MINDLESS Update.
||[Oct. 12th, 2007|11:41 pm]
So much has been going on- I apologize that most of my posts have been work-related and not about me or life in general. Well here it is- an update with no mention of work or art or career or the fact that the all new MattBusch.com is coming soon...|
Whoops. Kay- for real now.
I had a really fun day a couple weeks back... My current favorite band is MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE. I know many of you are too cool to like them any more, but they just give me that adrenaline push when I need it and, well, they make me happy, so, you know what you can eat if you're so above it. Their new Live DVD came out recently, and I'd highly suggest picking it up if you're even remotely a fan.
So, recently they were in town with that whole Projekt Revolution Tour, which incidentally happened to be filmed live for MySpace.com that day, if you saw it. Well, I have a friend in Chicago that was in town filming it, and hooked me and my buddy Trace up. And so, I had the pleasure of hanging out with MSI backstage for the rest of the day... and night!
Little Jimmy Urine, obsessed with my facial hair.
And no, we didn't make out.
He later showed me tricks on his BMX,
which he takes with him on the road.
There's a rumor that Lyn Z is dating the singer
of My Chemical Romance. Not true.
She is dating me.
Steve, Righ?, post vomit.
Cuddling up with Kitty.
She put make up on me.
Anyway, I'll spare you the antics that ensued, but for me, it was a fun day.
I enjoyed the ROCK OF LOVE show on VH-1. It was somewhat surreal, since I've known Bret and Big John for years. I was really pissed how Jes acted on the reunion show, because I was rooting for her the whole time. Bret needs a girl like her. Anyway, Season 2 was just announced, so hopefully Bret will find love this time around. I hope the producers pick more quality girls this time around, and not so many bimbos.
I've been spending a lot of time doing home improvements. My backyard/Japanese rock garden is about a third complete. All the trees are in. I built this huge double sided stone retaining wall that wraps around half the yard. (I call it the Great Wall of China.) It's almost 5 feet tall in one area, and I planted 13 trees inside it with about two dozen plants. I've actually been finding this outside work very therapeutic. It's sun, fresh air, exercise, and just good for my soul. I'll take some pictures...
I've also been doing a lot of improvements inside. I started on a full bathroom in the basement. You should have seen me with the jack-hammer! For a day, I wasn't an artist, but a MAN. Haha! Anyway... New carpet... Tile flooring around the bar...
My favorite home improvement has been the completion of a classic pinball and video game arcade. When I was a kid, I never had money- I was content just watching other kids play. So I always swore to myself that I'd have my own arcade one day, where my friends and I could play for free. Well, it's kind of funny- I feel like I know these games so well from watching them so much years back, but since I'm playing many of them for the first time, I actually suck pretty bad! Haha! But I'm enjoying the hell out of them. I'll make a post soon with pics and show what games I got. I'll have a party soon too so you all can come over and we'll have tournaments!
Anyway, I hope this doesn't come across as a show-off post. Life's been good lately, and this is what I've been up to.
I'm off to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes this weekend to put the Hummer to the test and ride motorcycles with my family. Have a great weekend! :)
