I'm ready for a beer. Then I'll have a good reason for having a headache tomorrow.
My Jeep is fixed, I had to rebuild the drum-brakes with a new wheel cylinder after shearing off an over-torqued bleeder valved. I replaced all the brake-lines from the master cylinder on back, except for one three foot long segment to the passenger-side wheel. I'll replace that one later this summer just for good measure.
My dad is in the hospital again. His blood pressure skyrocketed yesterday, but they said he didn't have another heart attack. His job is literally going to kill him unless he quits and finds something that isn't as demanding. He delivers construction supplies, and daily has to handle thousands of pounds of shingles, concrete blocks, etc. I'm going to call to get the lowdown when I get home.
Piper turned 6 today.
I'm ready for a beer.

| Cleaning a Mess |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|12:49 pm] |
Color of the day: Crimson Incense of the day: Myrrh
Paper napkins were used for the first time on this day in 1887. To clean up a mess and dispose of it, gather together white paper napkins, paper and pencil, and a cold cup of tea or coffee. This spell is best done in the kitchen or similar space. Create sacred space in your usual manner. On the napkin(s) write down your strengths and your problem-solving skills. Take the cold cup of tea or coffee and gaze at it, sending your problem into the liquid. Pour it onto the counter and clean the spill with the napkins as you chant, “I am done with the mess, it is over without stain.” Wad up the napkin and throw it away with a loud “Good-bye.” Be sure to take the garbage completely out of your home, disposing of it in your usual manner. |

Welcome to The Science, my friends. How about more Great Pollish Action? Great! I thought you'd dig it.
Today's Poll concerns canceled Sci Fi TV shows... And maybe one that isn't quite SF, but I love it so I included it. I also forgot Dr. Who on yesterday's poll... To those Whovians oot there: I'm terribly sorry.
Here we go!
Poll #1427454 Taken Out and Shot
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: AllWhich of the following canceled shows do you miss the most? It's pretty much all over the place... But which one do you wish was back??
NOTE: If Firefly doesn't win this, I'll be surprised. I love Firefly, myself, but I loved S:AAB a wee bit more.
And for participating in Ze Science, I give you this wonderful image:

As usual, click on it to make it bigger!
The above is a Yetti that appears in an upcoming Salvus story, The Horns of Triglav. The art is executed by the highly talented Freedom Drudge.

| 1982 Phases of the Moon |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|10:51 am] |
Pick me up and put me somewhere else if only for a day. Just to smell the air of elsewhere. Just to speak to a few friendly strangers about anything at all, knowing that I'll never see them again. To be on unfamiliar ground. Yeah, a change of scenery could benefit me- if only for a day.
These feelings come in rogue waves, and they hit me unexpectedly. Swabbing the deck clean, yet making a mess of things. I've tried to explain this sensation many times in the past. But you can't explain what you can hardly understand on your own.
The words and actions of others constantly baffle me. I wish I could give up on trying to figure it out, but I'm not a quitter and these are things that we need to know in order to survive life. Then again, maybe we're not supposed to understand such things.
"Destroy the Map." I can see myself on it, but only if I zoom out as far as possible. On days like today, I am reminded of all my "D-isms," and those are what keep me stapled to the paper. But sometimes the staples go through the paper and keep you stationary on the tabletop.
I'd like to be somewhere where it's freezing cold and I can see my breath and feel the sting of the icy air inside my lungs. But instead I'm up in Satan's attic, peering longingly out the window. These brain spasms are of unknown origin, but I kind of like these feelings. It's like a warm blanket that you sometimes snuggle up with. But it's still really hot in here.
It's all so vague. You can cross any border without actually knowing it. How exactly do you get back? |
